A Light in the pathway of darkness

MISSION statement

Al trek 'n leër teen my laer op, my hart sal nie vrees nie; al ontstaan oorlog teen my, tog sal ek vertroue hê. Matteus 5:14-16

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Mission of the AME Church is to minister to the social, spiritual and physical development of all people.

  • Of the Word, or Son of God, Who Was Made Very Man

The Son, who is the Word of the Father, the very and eternal God, of one substance with the Father, took man’s nature in the womb of the blessed Virgin; so that two whole and perfect natures, that is to say, the God-head and manhood, were joined together in one person, never to be divided; whereof is one Christ, very God and very Man, who truly suffered, was crucified, dead, and buried, to reconcile his Father to us, and to be a sacrifice, not only for original guilt, but also for the actual sins of men.

  • Christ did truly rise again from the dead, and took again his body with all things appertaining to the perfection of man’s nature, wherewith he ascended into heaven, and there sitteth until he returns to judge all men at the last day.

  • The Holy Ghost, proceeding from the Father and the Son, is of one substance, majesty, and glory with the Father and the Son, very and eternal God.

  • The Holy Scriptures containeth all things necessary to salvation; so that whatever is not read therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man, that it should be believed as an article of faith, or be thought requisite or necessary to salvation. In the name of the Holy Scriptures, we do understand those canonical books of the Old and New Testament, of whose authority was never any doubt in the Church.

THE THREE "H's"

2025-2026

Hoop

Healing

Healing, as shown in Psalm 147:3, comes from God’s gentle heart, who “heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” This verse reminds us that no pain is too deep and no wound too hidden for God’s restoring touch. His healing isn’t limited to physical injuries; it reaches into places where grief, disappointment, and loss have left their scars. God meets us in our brokenness with compassion, not condemnation, and patiently mends what life has shattered. In His presence, our sorrow is met with comfort, and our weakness becomes the space where His strength is made perfect. True healing, then, isn’t just about recovery — it’s about renewal, a divine act that restores hope, peace, and wholeness to the soul.

Holiness

Holiness, as explained in 1 Peter 1:15–16, is a divine invitation to mirror the character of the God who has called us. It states, “just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.” Holiness isn’t about being perfect, but about dedication — living a life dedicated to God’s purposes. It involves allowing God’s Spirit to influence our thoughts, desires, and actions so they align with His will. In a world that often promotes compromise, holiness calls us to live with integrity, compassion, and purity of heart. It is the daily choice to let God’s love guide how we speak, serve, and respond. As we grow in holiness, we become living mirrors of His light, showing that the grace that saves us also changes us.
