Group Tours

Mother Emanuel AME Church boasts a profound history, expertly conveyed by our Church Historians. Founded in 1816, it stands as one of the oldest African Methodist Episcopal churches in the Southern United States and serves as a powerful emblem of Black resilience and faith. Throughout the centuries, it has withstood rampant racial injustice, including being reduced to ashes and subsequently reborn, symbolizing the unwavering struggle for freedom and civil rights.
